Humata raised $3.5 million led by Google's Gradient Ventures

Gradient Ventures led a $3.5 million round in Humata, with M13 and ARK Investment Management joining. Cyrus Khajvandi and Dan Rasmuson founded the company in Austin in 2022 to answer questions across long PDFs and technical documents, citing the source file for every answer.

We backed Humata because the volume of dense documents people are expected to read keeps growing while the time to read them does not. Grounding every answer in the source with citations addresses the trust problem that holds back document AI in professional settings, and the product found real pull across research, legal and technical users early.
