Kiki relaunched in London after leaving New York

Six days after confirming it had left New York, Kiki named London as its new home. Toby Thomas-Smith moved there alone and rebuilt the mid-term rental marketplace from scratch.

We backed Kiki because the mid-term rental market has no obvious home while the need keeps growing as people work and travel more flexibly. The trust-first design borrows matching ideas from dating apps so hosts let their space to people who have been vouched for. The founders' ambition to build this globally, and their willingness to move to where the market is, matched the resourcefulness we look for.
