Miruku raised $5 million in a pre-Series A for molecular-farmed dairy

Miruku raised $5 million in a pre-Series A to develop dairy proteins and fats in oilseed crops. The team moved off soy to safflower because it avoids allergen and regulatory friction and thrives in the hot, dry conditions of California and Australia.

We backed Miruku because demand for sustainable dairy proteins keeps rising, and molecular farming makes them inside existing agriculture rather than in expensive fermentation plants. Amos Palfreyman is a fourth-generation dairy farmer, and his team was the first molecular farming dairy company in the Asia Pacific region, which gives it an early lead in a crowded global race.
