oVRcome was cleared to run a clinical trial

The Christchurch company got the green light for a clinical trial of its smartphone VR exposure therapy. Adam Hutchinson started oVRcome as a lockdown side project and worked with clinical psychologists to put exposure therapy for phobias on a phone.

We backed oVRcome because effective exposure therapy is hard to access and expensive to deliver, and a phone puts it within reach. Demand for accessible mental health treatment far outstrips the supply of clinicians, and a trial is what separates a self-guided app from an evidence-based one.
