Puralink raised a $2.3 million seed round for its pipe robots

Puralink raised a $2.3 million seed round to build the Ferret, a 40 centimeter autonomous robot that inspects pipes as small as six inches. It works through corners, intersections and vertical stacks, and travels up to a kilometer in one run while capturing HD CCTV, LiDAR and mapping data.

We backed Puralink because the world's water and wastewater pipes are ageing, poorly documented and expensive to inspect, and autonomous robots make that inspection faster, safer and far more thorough. The Ferret combines robotics with the data layer operators need to act on what it finds, which turns a survey into a decision tool. A burst pipe flooded the founder's Sydney street in 2019 while he was an engineering student, and he spent the next three years building the answer.
