What Finlens does

Finlens

Finlens connects a client's bank, card and payment feeds, categorizes each transaction with a confidence score, extracts bills and receipts, drafts the journal entries and accrual schedules, and posts the reviewed entries back to QuickBooks. Accountants review only what the AI flags as uncertain. Md Halim founded the company in San Francisco as ZeFi, and Y Combinator and Accel back it.

The secret

Bookkeeping closes weeks after the month it describes, so the runway a founder reads is always historical. Finlens categorizes each transaction as it lands and posts it back to QuickBooks, which turns the month-end scramble into a running total.

Why NZVC invested in Finlens

Finlens: savings buckets

We backed Finlens because early-stage founders need real-time financial clarity but rarely have a finance team, and the existing tools leave them waiting on accountants and stitching together spreadsheets. Finlens uses automation to give founders live cash flow, runway, and metrics in one place, which is exactly the visibility that helps them make faster, better decisions. The team is building for a large and constant population of new startups, at a point where AI makes this kind of automated bookkeeping genuinely reliable.
