LockiiLockii is rental software that runs a hire business without anyone at the counter.
A customer books and pays online, Lockii checks their license and insurance, a smart lock releases the item at pickup time, and photos and GPS capture the return. Operators running anything from a single trailer to a fleet of six hundred items use it, and the company says it saves them up to eight hours of admin per item each month. Bodhi Hawken founded Lockii in Melbourne after four years building custom systems for rental operators, starting with automating his uncle's paddleboard hire, and launched it in October 2025 through the Startmate accelerator.
Every rental business runs on the same loop of book, unlock, return, and every one of them was paying someone to stand there for it. Lockii makes the lock the shopfront, which turns a business that needed a staffed counter into one that needs a box and a phone.
We backed Lockii because the rental economy is fragmented and almost entirely unautomated, and Bodhi Hawken had spent four years building software inside rental operators before he turned any of it into a product. He shipped his first game at fourteen and his first app at sixteen, then spent four years as a founding engineer on software for nightclubs, learning that business by following staff around venues at night.
